We are now a fully licensed retail dealer - NC #0072340 - located at #13 Ocean Commerce Park, 2004 S. Croatan Highway, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948. We call ourselves The Outer Banks' Invisible Car Dealer because we store our vehicles inside a large, climate controlled warehouse. The lowest overhead of any local car dealer is passed along to you with "above average cars at below average prices." Upon completion of graduate school David chose to pursue the automobile business in a bricks and mortar car service business called Precision Autos, which enjoyed the reputation in its community as the place to go for import auto service. During this time Precision Autos began its preowned car sales service.
In 1985, a move to a larger, more strategically located facility marked the transition to car sales and detailing only. The reputation for excellent service, products and service grew as Precision Autos quickly became the place to buy preowned vehicles for many years. During this time he achieved full ASE certification as a mechanic and won several championships racing in SCCA, skills which give us a decided advantage in selecting only the best vehicles for our customers. No "suits" focused solely on profit at our dealership!
With the sale of the Chapel Hill, NC facility in 2000, Precision Autos emerged as The Carfinders focusing on finding preowned vehicles for clients through a simple contractual arrangement. The Carfinders moved to New Mexico from 2004-2008 and, after a brief sabbatical, has reemerged in David's birthplace at the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina.Winning the NASA Mid Atlantic PTE Championship in 2010 proved the old guy still had it.
Now once again in 2011 David, well known locally as "THE CAR GUY", is an officially a licensed NC dealer, a wholesale and retail dealer with access to hundreds of auctions and thousands of dealers and literally thousands of vehicles throughout the United States. Having been personally involved in the car business for over 33 years we know hundreds of other dealers whom we can call upon to help us find you an "above average vehicle at a below average price with exceptional service." We look forward to serving our good customers, new and old, for many years to come.

In 1978, a counselor and educator entered graduate school to pursue a doctoral program in education and counseling psychology. He found himself in need of tuition funding. Armed with a love of automobiles and a desire to do things right, David Rhodes began a traveling auto repair business called Travel' N' Tune. Skilled repairs, excellent customer service and fair prices created a solid, successful business.
